Tikkun Olam Makers (TOM) is a Tel Aviv based, Israeli-turn-Global initiative whose vision is to enable any person, anywhere, to access affordable technological solutions tailored to their specific needs.
Visiting TOM in Tel Aviv is an opportunity to learn about and experience an initiative devoted to creating practical, affordable solutions that aims to enhance independence and improve the quality of life of people living with disabilities, the elderly, and wounded soldiers and veterans. As a multidisciplinary initiative, TOM operates at the intersection of design, technology and community, shaping a model where creativity is always grounded in real-world impact.
At the heart of TOM’s work lies a commitment to designing, producing and distributing solutions that respond directly to the lived experiences of users. Every product developed through TOM, whether a mobility aid for a toddler, a daily-use assistive device for an elderly person, or a highly customized tool for a wounded veteran, is documented and published online as open-source, accessible for all through the TOM Global library. This approach ensures that each solution can be reproduced anywhere, removing barriers of cost, geography, or expertise, and creating a quietly radical form of accessibility.
Since October 7th, TOM has become a key player in the Israeli rehabilitation ecosystem, providing support and enhancing the rehabilitation processes of injured IDF soldiers, working at hospitals across the country, Batei Lochem, rehabilitation centers and communities.
Visitors to TOM Tel Aviv will get to meet their team of designers, makers, occupational therapists, engineers and volunteers; see their permanent exhibition of developed solutions as well as their 3D printers farm and workshop; and can chose to participate in hands-on activities, such as 3D printing or laser cutting workshop, or even take part in a ‘build party’ – assembling a Toddler Mobility Trainer destined for a child in need.
Against the backdrop of Tel Aviv’s energy and diversity, TOM serves as a meeting point of ingenuity and social responsibility, an environment where technology becomes a tool for strengthening community bonds and expanding what is possible for people whose needs are too often overlooked. For visitors seeking an authentic glimpse into Israeli resilience, creativity, and communal care, TOM offers a compelling, grounded, and hopeful experience.
